Wrong Attitudes About Sin – Part 1.
“And as Samuel turned about to go away, he laid hold upon the skirt of his mantle, and it rent. And Samuel said unto him, The Lord hath rent the kingdom of Israel from thee this day and hath given it to a neighbour of thine, that is better than thou. And also the Strength of Israel will not lie nor repent: for he is not a man, that he should repent. Then he said, I have sinned: yet honour me now, I pray thee, before the elders of my people, and before Israel, and turn again with me, that I may worship the Lord thy God. So Samuel turned again after Saul, and Saul worshipped the Lord.” (1 Samuel 15:27-31) KJV
God created us perfectly, but because of Adam, we are all are born into sin.
Saul didn’t know the gravity of sin.
As a result of this, his attitude about sin was totally wrong:
“I’m not guilty,” Saul tried to hide the reality.
He acts as if nothing wrong happened.
He who denies sin with or without knowledge is actually saying that:
“God doesn’t know all things. He doesn’t really see everything I do, or He doesn’t really hear everything I say. God is changeable, and He is not keeping His Word.”
Saul Possibly said to himself, “He said to annihilate all the Amalekites, but He will be glad to hear how clever we were. We kept the best for the sacrifices,”
You, too, can think that not all that God says is wrong is really wrong.
Don’t deceive yourself!!!
Saul must have continued in his thoughts:
“The man of God doesn’t know many things. Even though Samuel will come, he will not understand a thing about those sheep. It will seem normal to him. The man of God could be compromised. If I have to, I will convince Samuel that we, not God, have the right. He will consider that we are the smart ones. The people who know our sin will keep it secret.”
This is the devil’s voice, who is trying to convince you to hide the sin.
He will continue to trick you into keeping the secret of your secret sin in your life,
He will deceive you into keeping it until Judgement Day.
Then it will be too late.
Don’t trust his voice, but trust God!
Today God is asking you:
What is your attitude to sin?.
Application for the Christian life:
Take sin seriously.
Listen to God’s voice and not to Satan.
Do not keep secrets from God, who knows everything.
Confess your sins to God now.
HE will forgive and restore you.
