“Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?” 2 Corinthians 6:14 (KJV)
It was my friend YO who sent the cartoon-like picture of the couple that showed the man leading the woman into the church for the Ash Wednesday prayers rather than the Valentine treat because both celebrations held last Wednesday, February 14th.
Which one did you honor?
This set me thinking as to when do love and faith conflict? And I remember one of the challenges of the Christian faith is when a partner in a relationship accepts Jesus Christ as Lord and the other person has not.
Often the question arises as to whether the believer will be compromising with the unbeliever?
If married break up of relationship is not an option because there are several ways the believing partner can through the real practice of faith.
The usual conflict of love and faith often arise when those involved are not married and when counseled with above scripture the choice is whether you have to break that relationship because the other partner refused to accept Christ.
Sometimes the new convert says because of love the relationship cannot be broken, and they hope somehow with time the other person will come to make the positive decision too.
What options do you have?
Standing upon the Word of God has always been the best and most reliable option.
Attractions based on infatuations often make people decide on following love and usually when those feelings wear off, and realities set in they then realize that all that glitters is not gold.
“My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.” Proverbs 1:10 (KJV)
Don’t get carried away with was is in vogue, the latest trend and what others are doing.
Let the Word of God guides your daily decision even social matters.
“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.” Romans 8:14 (KJV)
When under pressure people do quote the scriptures out of context like “giving unto Caesars what belongs to Caesars” Jesus was addressing a bunch of people who were looking for ways to trap Him. Don’t give your body to sin. Should you want to apply the scripture correctly, you are made in the image of God so your life, your body should be yielded to Godlike decisions as you see in the Bible.
“So God created man in his image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.” Genesis 1:27 (KJV)
Should you have to decide on what to do next time when what appears to be love and faith conflicts let your decision be the Word of God.
