Don’t Do Ananias and Sapphira

Don’t Do Ananias and Sapphira

“But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira, his wife, sold a possession, And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles’ feet.” Acts 5:1-2  (KJV)

Are you still doing Ananias and Sapphira?

We have all read the account of this couple in Acts 5, and the most important take away from the incident is that no faithful Christian Husband and Wife should ever conspire together to deceive the church or any other fellow human being.

Unlike Genesis 3 where the account of how Adam and Eve’s fall was narrated, we saw clearly who did what. The incident of Ananias and Sapphira just said the couple agreed together to lie. Who suggested it first? The husband or Wife?

We don’t know.

Neither corrected each other!!!

Both decided to lie.

As a Christian couple, what issues are you both together lying about?

You may today fool others around you, but God never has and will never be deceived.

A more precise understanding of the scriptures makes us know that each one, Husband or Wife will individually give an account of their lives to God.

In as much as husband and wife are one, the lesson from the individual judgments God gave to Adam and Eve suggests that Ananias and Sapphira will individually receive theirs too from God.

There are different schools of thought that they may or not make it to heaven.

No liar shall make it to heaven.

“But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” Rev 21:8

What could have happened if Sapphira had repented and did not die?

What could have happened if in true repentance asked Peter to plead for mercy and brought back her husband from the dead?

Raising the dead still follows the Disciples till today as God promised.

Choose not to keep agreeing with your partner to lie.

Speak the truth to each in Love

Let the Word of God be the standard at all times in your home.

Choose a more excellent way of encouraging each other to speak and live the truth at all times
