“Write these commandments that I’ve given you today on your hearts. Get them inside of you and then get them inside your children. Talk about them wherever you are, sitting at home or walking in the street; talk about them from the time you get up in the morning to when you fall into bed at night. Tie them on your hands and foreheads as a reminder; inscribe them on the doorposts of your homes and on your city gates.” Deuteronomy 6:7-9
We MUST not only share our faith with our children we have to really get it inside of them and let them really know who our God is and what HE has done, what HE is doing and what HE will still do.
No matter how modern and enlightened we like to be the testimony of how we ourselves became Christians and how HIS grace has sustained us till date must be consistently and beautifully packaged to our children.
I remembered watching “Roots” (Alex Haley) several years ago and how Kunta Kinte insisted that his ancestral story must be passed down the family line, which was done and actually led to the emergence of the book and the movie on it.
God has entrusted to you and I that the Good News of the Kingdom must be personally and diligently told to our children.
“Dear friends, I’ve dropped everything to write you about this life of salvation that we have in common. I have to write insisting—begging!—that you fight with everything you have in you for this faith entrusted to us as a gift to guard and cherish. What has happened is that some people have infiltrated our ranks (our Scriptures warned us this would happen), who beneath their pious skin are shameless scoundrels. Their design is to replace the sheer grace of our God with sheer license—which means doing away with Jesus Christ, our one and only Master.” Jude 3.
Contend for the Faith and please ensure you deliver it timely, accurately, totally to your children .
Not just your biological children share your faith directly with all those who come under your definition of children in your life.
Let us get it inside them.
