I just Assumed

I just assumed

Abraham said, “I just assumed that there was no fear of God in this place and that they’d kill me to get my wife. Besides, the truth is that she is my half-sister; she’s my father’s daughter but not my mother’s. When God sent me out as a wanderer from my father’s home, I told her, ‘Do me a favor; wherever we go, tell people that I’m your brother.'”  Genesis 20:11-13  (MSG)

Do not always assume.

Abraham just assumed, and his assumption in the above passage was not only wrong but led him to lie.

Whenever a thought passes through your mind, please check out the source of it before you act it out.

Relationships at various levels have always been negatively impacted whenever people act on their assumptions…

Marriages, friendships, businesses and even personal decisions could go wrong when people in it assume without verifying facts from each other.

God was merciful to Abraham in the story above, but there were still consequences of his assumption.

“Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding. ” Proverbs 23:23 (KJV)

Be diligent to always seek the truth on every matter before you act on it. Praise God you have the Holy Spirit to ask and HE will give you the illumination you need.

When you assume something about someone else, you are making a judgment about that person. “Refuse to be a critic full of bias toward others, and judgment will not be passed on you.” Matthew 7:1(TPT) Do not judge unfairly.

Follow the golden rule and treat others the way we would like to be treated (Matt. 7:12).

Do not be the sole prosecutor, jury, and judge in other peoples matter. Always find out the truth first.

When privileged to make an input in any matter find out the truth before you make your contributions. “Answering before listening is both stupid and rude.” Proverbs 18:13  (MSG)

Today lets put away assumptions and act only on truths that we verify before taking action.

Don’t just assume.
