I will show you a mountain…

I will show you a mountain…

“Some years later, God decided to test Abraham, so he spoke to him. Abraham answered, “Here I am, LORD.” The LORD said, “Go get Isaac, your only son, the one you dearly love! Take him to the land of Moriah, and I will show you a mountain where you must sacrifice him to me on the fires of an altar.” So Abraham got up early the next morning and chopped wood for the fire. He put a saddle on his donkey and left with Isaac and two servants for the place where God had told him to go.” Genesis 22:1-3(CEV)

God guides specifically.

When God told Abraham to sacrifice his son Isaac as a form of test, he was specific.

We must learn daily to hear instructions from God.

Even though God told him to go to the Land of Moriah, there was a specific mountain.

In the land of Moriah, there were different mountains.

The specific one was the one that had the substitute ram already caught.

Imagine Abraham settling down on any mountain he liked.

Have you considered that he did not choose the convenient mountain?

Neither was it recorded that he chose the nearest one.

We must constantly learn to hear God and receive Grace to carry out the specific.

God first told Moses to strike the rock.

“Behold, I will stand before you there on the rock at Horeb, and you shall strike the rock, and water shall come out of it, and the people will drink.” And Moses did so, in the sight of the elders of Israel.” (Exodus 17:6 ESV)

Later on in His wisdom, he told him the second time to speak to the rock.

“Take the staff, and assemble the congregation, you and Aaron your brother, and tell the rock before their eyes to yield its water. So you shall bring water out of the rock for them and give drink to the congregation and their cattle.” Numbers 20:8 (ESV)

Mosses got it wrong the second time.

Instead of speaking, he struck the rock( Numbers 20:9-12.

Are you where God told you to be?

When you offer your sacrifice where your friends can see and hail you, your miraculous provisions may be pretty challenging.

Are you doing what God has told you to do?

Are you too familiar with God or allow the people’s provocation to make you do the wrong thing?

There is no shortcut with God.

Learn to hear and do what HE specifically directed.

Abraham went to the place God told him to go.

Again ask your self are you really where God has told you to be?
