Summer Time, Dangerous times for men … and women too. It was Charles Dickens that once wrote “we live in the best of times and the worst of times”. Summer time is fast becoming a dangerous time for men to move about especially here in New York.
Regardless of the mode of transportation that you may be using; as long as your eyes see other users of the road, rail, bus and even as a pedestrian, you are confronted daily with scantily dressed women who now use the summer heat as an excuse to make public what God gave them for private use.
This is the time that your anchor must really hold in order to walk without lusting. I don’t know your theology of sanctification and holy living but what you are made to see puts to test the very foundations of your belief and perception.
In this ongoing FIFA world cup some people from a country have accused their goalkeeper for conceding a goal by looking at his fiancé who as a journalist was interviewing somebody around the field of play. He simply lost concentration. How do you also fair when going about your daily routine, whether you are driving, walking or as a passenger? How do you keep your focus on God when you are moving about and right before you are movie presentations you did not demand or desire to see? If you are in control you can easily switch off your thought processing system that may want to go haywire with lusts. Has your basic Bible teaching prepared you to live holy in times like these?
The Bible teaches us to flee fornication and all appearance of youthful lust (The presenters of these unrequested shows that cut across all ages, shapes, and sizes openly overwhelm us with what we were instructed to flee from). What then do you do? Do you run away? You cannot close your eyes while moving yet you cannot but notice what is being thrown at you.
The Bible says in Proverbs 24v10 “If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small.” Again in Jeremiah 12v5 “”If you have raced with men on foot and they have worn you out, how can you compete with horses? If you stumble in safe country, how will you manage in the thickets by the Jordan?” As a growing young Christian you were taught not to think or lust after a woman’s beauty. And women of those days either in church or on the street do not go out to tempt you. Today the dressing in the church sanctuary is not different from the public place. How does your faith help you to hold on in times like this?
Your understanding must come to the reality that this is the last days. Iniquities will continue to abound but your strength to overcome must increase from more intimacy with God and walking in the fullness of the Holy Spirit. Rather than seeing these as free movies you should see them as objects of prayers, deliverance and temptations that must be overcome and not yielded to.
Some men too are also using the weather to show forth their muscles and barely have anything on their bodies too. As a woman this is not the time to choose body trainer on the street or be enticed too. Proverbs 1v 10 “My child, if sinners entice you, turn your back on them!” God has made seasons to balance and enrich mankind, not to ensnare. Seriously, if the rapture should take place in this hot summer will you make the flight? What will you be hearing and seeing? I pray it’s the sound of the trumpet and the Lord. Not those movements that now tend to distract.
