To help the needy.
And if thy brother wax poor, and fallen in decay with thee; then thou shalt relieve him: yea, though he be a stranger or a sojourner; that he may live with thee. Lev. 25:35. (KJV).
Did your friend in financial need try to sell his possessions to you?
You offer him a lower price than what the item is worth.
Maybe you justify yourself by saying both parties scored.
It is a win-win situation, you said to yourself.
Should you not instead have given him a higher price than what it is worth?
A friend in need is a friend indeed.
How often does a person make use of another person’s situation to enrich himself?
How would you feel if you were the poor person?
Are you in debt with Jesus?
How should He treat you?
Do unto others as you would like others to do to you.
A rich person is not rich because of what he has.
A rich person is rich because of what he gives.
Can you treat others like you want Jesus to treat you?
Application to the Christian life:
Help others in need.
Have Empathy.
Serve Jesus and obey Him.
