Watch your mouth!
Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. Eph.4:29. (KJV).
Did you tell your friend what you heard just the other day?
Possibly you embellished it with your own views and imaginations?
How badly does someone behave?
Did you discuss secretly the poor decisions someone made?
Primarily to use it to bring them down and not for correction.
How often do you talk about the bad things someone does?
How often do you speak about the good someone does?
The saying goes: “if you have nothing good to say, do not say it.”
Jesus never said something bad about a person.
He did mention the wrong things they did.
Clearly, He also gave the right choices they could have made.
There is a difference.
To tell somebody, he is doing wrong and not only that.
Also, how he should change what he is doing.
It is uplifting.
To gossip to someone about another is downgrading.
Can you always say uplifting things?
What really comes from your mouth?
Do you build or destroy?
Application to the Christian life:
Help others to improve.
Encourage.
Resist gossiping.
Be humble.
Learn from Jesus.
